As we age, it’s expected that we’ll see wrinkles, fine lines, and sagging skin develop across our faces. But what if we could do something to stop the clock on aging skin? With Juvederm, it’s never been easier to rejuvenate the face with a youthful glow and a refreshed, natural look. Here at Aire MedSpa in Sarasota, FL, we offer several versions of the best-selling treatment, each one providing specific, effective, gorgeous results.
What Are the Different Types of Juvederm?
This treatment involves making a series of very small injections into areas of the face that you want to restore volume to. But which product will we actually inject? That depends on what you want to achieve from treatment. Maybe you’re concerned with fine lines, or maybe you’re looking to add plumpness to your lips. Each product has been uniquely designed to serve a different purpose, so it’s worth knowing a bit about each one ahead of your consolation with us.
This filler has a thinner consistency, which means it can smoothen the skin out in a way that looks incredibly natural. That makes it the perfect weapon again fine lines and gentler wrinkles. When used on lips, it’s an excellent multitasker, creating volume and plumpness while simultaneously smoothing out any wrinkles and lip lines. Around the face, it’s commonly used to fill out sunken cheeks and reconstruct parts of the face that have sagged and stretched with age.
If you have more severe wrinkles you’re looking to treat, why not try a thicker product? The heavier consistency of Ultra Plus lends itself to filling out deeper lines, particularly in the bottom half of the face. One of the most popular concerns Ultra Plus is used on is marionette lines, which are the deep lines that run from the nostrils to the corner of the mouth. When used on the lips, it creates some serious plumpness.
Also in the “thick filler” family is Voluma, a gel filler that’s primarily used to restore volume in the face. Some of the areas most impacted by volume loss include sunken temples and bags under the eyes, which can often give the most distinctive impressions of aging skin. It’s a great filler for those who want round, perky cheeks, as it sits and holds well in the middle of the face. Voluma is so firm that it can even be used as a non-surgical method of nose augmentation.
For those seeking an ultra-natural result, look no further than Volbella. Vycross technology and a very thin consistency mean Volbella creates an incredibly subtle, but very effective, look. It’s only used on the lips and works to plump and lift them while also smoothing out any inconsistencies. If the giant, juicy lips that Ultra Plus gives you feel like a step further than you’re ready to take things, Volbella could be the perfect choice.
If you’re looking to lift sagging skin whilst simultaneously firming it, in a way that still looks natural, you might be interested in Vollure. This product targets moderate-to-severe lines around the face, including smile lines and under-eye bags, plus can be used to combat droopy skin and jowls. The combination of a tightened, sculpted jawline and smoother skin means the result is a much younger-looking appearance.
Why Do I Get Wrinkles?
The human naturally produces an important substance called hyaluronic acid, or HA. HA’s purpose is to bring moisture to the skin, keeping it hydrated and plump, and stimulating the growth of proteins like elastin and collagen. These proteins keep the skin tight and perky. But as we age, the body’s production of HA, and thus elastin and collagen, slow. Without these essential substances, the skin becomes coarse, stretchy, and saggy. Folds and sunken areas lead to the formation of wrinkles.
But aging isn’t the only thing thing that can cause you to lose HA, collagen, and elastin. Lifestyle factors like heavy drinking and smoking can destroy them at a rapid pace, as can sun exposure and fluctuating weight. Frustratingly, even genetics can be a factor in how quickly your skin ages. So if you feel like you’re “too young” to be considering an anti-aging skin treatment, you don’t need to worry – it’s different for everyone.
How Long Will I Be Able To Enjoy Results For?
Incredibly, all iterations of Juvederm last for over six months a time, meaning you can enjoy long-lasting, gorgeous results. They’ll vary from product to product: Ultra usually lasts for up to nine months, while a firmer gel-like Voluma can last for an astounding two years. Gel fillers last longer because they’re built to hold stronger, while thin fillers get absorbed by the body faster. But good news! When your fillers start to wear off, you can come right back to our office for a touch-up session, which will be quick and easy.
How Does This Treatment Work?
In this treatment, the body is replenished with HA, but a synthetic version. All Juvederm products contain HA which, when injected into the areas of concern, get to work binding to water it finds in the body. AMazingly, HA can hold up to one thousand times its weight in water! It brings this water back to the skin’s surface, which is immediately hydrated and begins taking on a new firmer, more supple shape. Not only that, but this treatment also encourages the body to produce new elastin and collagen.
What Will Happen During My Treatment?
Ahead of receiving any actual treatment, you’ll be asked to come in for an initial consultation. This is our chance to hear all about your cosmetic goals so we can make an informed decision about which product will work best for you. We’ll also examine your medical history, including any medications you might be taking, to make sure you’re in a suitable condition for this treatment. We’ll then draw you up a treatment plan that we’ll follow on the day, and you’re all ready to go!
On the Day
Treatment is performed in-house at our gorgeous Sarasota office. You’ll come in makeup-free, and we’ll start with applying a topical numbing cream to the areas of your face we’re going to treat. The injections are performed with a very thin needle, which amazingly, many patients report they can’t even feel. The whole process is over in a matter of minutes. After that, you’re free to head out! No anesthetic is used in this treatment, so you can drive yourself to and from your appointment if you like.
What Is the Recovery Period Like?
One of the great things about this treatment is that there’s pretty much no recovery period required after. You can carry on with normal life as per usual, not needing to take any time off work or your daily routine. Certain activities may be discouraged for a few days afterward, as they can aggravate sensitive blood vessels in the face. These may include being in extreme heat like saunas or jacuzzis, or partaking in vigorous exercise. They’re unlikely to be too disruptive to normal life and you’ll only need a few days off at the maximum.
Am I a Good Candidate for Treatment?
Since wrinkles can develop at almost any age, we don’t recommend this treatment to a particular age bracket. Rather, we encourage anyone who is over 18 and feels self-conscious about the way their face is changing to schedule a consultation with us, regardless of age, gender, or skin type. So if you were wondering, yes, many men seek out this treatment too – wrinkles don’t discriminate, after all!
If you take any medications or have any conditions that could interfere with this treatment, we may suggest an alternative that’s better suited to your health and lifestyle. The same will be said for those who are pregnant or planning on getting pregnant. Here at Aire MedSpa, we’re proud to offer a selection of fantastic, effective cosmetic treatments; from Chemical Peels to Botox to Intense Pulsed Light, we’ll certainly be able to find you an ideal solution to your aesthetic concerns.
